Theatres:

• Shanklin Theatre:  The Islands biggest theatre with a 650-seater capacity that stages over 150 shows a year.  During summer months, they frequently have ‘Beyond the West End’ a professional production performed by Spotlight (IOW) LTD.  Seating is on two levels: the stalls (all flat) and the balcony (sloped).  Access to the balcony is via stairs (no lift) and the auditorium opens 30 minutes before each show.  A bar which serves alcoholic drinks as well as tea/coffee opens one hour before the show.  There is a historical map room opposite the bar which was a local command and control centre during WW2 and has memorabilia from that time displayed.  There is also an English Heritage listed structure in the form of a sweet shop (former box office) located in the foyer and before the show starts and during intervals.   Toilets including accessible located in the front foyer entrance as well as downstairs near to the bar area.  Parking in local pay & display car parks only.  Access for wheelchair users is at the side of the building.  Address: Prospect road, Shanklin, PO37 6AJ

 

• Medina Theatre:  The Medina Theatre is a community based theatre which plays host to a number of entertaining and varied performances. Seating an audience of 425, the theatre hosts a large number of both local and national plays, concerts, ballets and lectures throughout the year, catering for a large cross section of the community.  Paid parking on site.  Wheelchair friendly.

 

• Trinity Theatre:  Home of the Cowes Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.  Various amateur productions throughout the year.  Parking in pay & display car parks locally.  Address: The Grove, Cowes, PO31 7QR.

 

Cinemas:

• Cineworld:  Located in the multiplex building in Newport is this multiplex cinema.  Latest releases shown here as well as Movies for Juniors at weekends and during holidays.  Pay & display parking on site which is time limited.  Address: Furrlongs, Newport, PO30 2TA.

 

• Commodore:  Located in Ryde is this independent cinema showing a variety of films including latest releases.  Address: Start Street, Ryde, PO33 2HX.
