About the owners:

We purchased our lovely holiday home in March 2020.

My husband had never been to Thorness Bay,  but has completely fallen in love with the site, as well as the Isle of Wight overall.  As a professional illustrator and graphic designer, he has found plenty of inspiration.  All the paintings in the caravan have been completed by owner Roger Hutchins.  All the photos in the caravan have been taken by owner Rachel Hutchins.

We have enjoyed many memorable holidays since purchasing our caravan and we sincerely hope you can create amazing memories too.

Our personal recommendations are:

Driving:

A drive along Military Road, one of the UK's most scenic routes.

Walking:

Parking in Gurnard and then walking along Egypt Esplanade into Cowes.

Parking at Lower Hyde holiday park in Shanklin and then walking along the old railway line in Shanklin.  This route is very flat and has some great views. You can see Fallow Deer too.

Walking around Newtown Nature Reserve.

Parking at Fort Victoria and walking into Yarmouth (approximately one mile) and is also a flat route.

Dining out/Take away:

Stotesbury fish & chip shop in Newport.  Amazing food and there's a reason it's the Islands oldest fish & chip shop!

The Sloop Inn (part of Stonehouse Carveries).  We really enjoy a lovely roast here whilst overlooking Wooton Estuary.  They have a reputation for some of the best pizzas around!  (You drive past this to get to our caravan from the Fishbourne terminal).

The Blacksmiths Arms.  Not far from this caravan and has great food and terrific views.

The Chequers Inn.  Great views, delicious food and a brilliant children's playground.

The Dairyman's Daughter at Arreton Barns.  Free parking on site and the breakfast burger is incredible!  You can enjoy the rest Arreton Barns has to offer as well.

Beaches:

St Helens Beach accessed via Nodes Point Holiday Park.  Not a sandy beach, but pleasant and there's a cafe and toilets on the promenade.

Yaverland/Sandown.  We prefer to park at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary as this is privately owned (not owned by the zoo) and cheaper than most car parks which appear to mostly be council owned.  Sandy beach is right across the road.  Sandown is slightly further along towards the pier.
